Helsingborg's Sweden striker Henrik Larsson is reported to be weighing up offers from three unnamed Premier League clubs.
Larsson, who scored 242 goals in 315 appearances for Celtic, has not played in Britain since March 2007 at the end of a three-month loan with Manchester United.
Sky Sports are reporting that a trio of top-flight clubs have made offers for the 36-year-old, who was a member of Sweden's Euro 2008 squad and has been called up for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Hungary.
The former Birmingham striker Walter Pandiani could also be set for a return to the Premier League, after the player's agent claimed the Uruguayan is in negotiations with a number of sides. "We are in talks with several English clubs," said Eugenio Botas. "A decision could be taken at the weekend or next Monday."
Ecuador midfielder Segundo Castillo is on Merseyside undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Everton. The club have applied for a work permit and are awaiting international clearance for a one-year loan deal.
It is not expected that the medical reports will be concluded until tomorrow, so the chances of the 21-year-old being able to face Portsmouth on Saturday are slim.
Elsewhere, the Milton Keynes Dons captain Keith Andrews is having a medical at Blackburn ahead of potential move to the Premier League club, Manchester United have agreed to cancel the contract of of Chinese striker Dong Fangzhou, while Portsmouth's Linvoy Primus has joined Charlton on a three-month loan and Fulham defender Moritz Volz has joined Ipswich Town on a season-long loan.
