The Everton defenders Phil Jagielka and Joseph Yobo have agreed new five-year deals, the club have confirmed. The pair are set to sign new contracts that will keep them at Everton until 2014.
"Everton are delighted contract negotiations with Joseph Yobo and Phil Jagileka have now been successfully concluded and both players will sign new five year deals with the club imminently," read a club statement.
Jagielka, currently recovering from a knee ligament operation which is likely to sideline him until the middle of August, was also named the Everton player of the season. An impressive season was capped when the defender scored the penalty that took the club into the FA Cup final. However, injury has robbed him of the chance to face Chelsea.
Reports earlier this week had suggested Yobo was unsettled at the club due to lack of first-team opportunities and might attract interest from the Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger but his agreement of a new deal ends any speculation of him leaving Goodison Park.
