Christophe Berra is expected to return to training with the rest of the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad on Friday despite suffering what looked to be a serious head injury against Manchester City on Monday night.
The Scotland international tumbled over Craig Bellamy as he attempted to win a header and landed face-down on the turf, leading to play being held up for several minutes before he was helped from the pitch.
Berra was later reported to be suffering from mild concussion but after being assessed by the club's medical staff following the game and again this morning, Wolves are confident he will be able to take part in full training on Friday ahead of Sunday's FA Cup tie against Tranmere Rovers.
The Wolves manager, Mick McCarthy, has meanwhile praised Michael Mancienne after the on-loan Chelsea player shone in a midfield role in the 3-0 defeat by City. The 21-year-old is in his second spell at Molineux but has been used primarily as a defender.
"Mancienne was outstanding," McCarthy said. "We've just found a midfield player who got man of the match last night and was as good as any of them. I thought he and Karl Henry really gave us a platform from which to play."
