After a frenetic week of playoffs we know the four teams that will contest the Conference Championships (aka semi-finals) for a place in the MLS Cup final: LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Sporting KC and Houston Dynamo.
It's almost as if the MLS wanted to help David Beckham fulfil his American Dreamz - after finally overcoming New York Red Bulls in LA's Home Depot Center, Galaxy will play at home again on Sunday, before the final is held... in LA. Before being politely put straight by the Riot Squad, let's admit that Galaxy earned the right to home playoffs advantage through their regular season consistency.
LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake (Western Conference Championship, 9pm EST, Sunday)
After an early scare when former Port Valeite Luke Rodgers levelled up the tie, LA overcame NY with goals from Mike Magee (again), assisted by Beckham (again), and a Landon Donovan penalty. It was Donovan's 18th career playoff goal and saved him from an avalanche of abuse following his trash-talking row with the Red Bulls after the first leg. He may have anticipated some response to his "I'm confused; who is Luke Rodgers?" comment when the combustible Englishman opened the scoring after just four minutes.
