It is more than 32 years since Wolves last won at Goodison Park. In 1979-80 John Barnwell's side went on to finish sixth in the top flight, a high water mark they have failed to match since, and those currently wearing the old gold will not be eclipsing that achievement this season (or anytime soon, in truth) but they did show signs of improvement in the win against Wigan. Everton will hope their England performers – Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka in particular – bring their international form back to the Premier League. John Ashdown
