Rio Ferdinand is considering offers from Galatasaray, Besiktas, LA Galaxy and Al Gharafa, though his first choice would be to stay at Manchester United next season.

The 35-year-old started in Saturday's 4-0 win over Norwich City in Ryan Giggs's first match as interim manager, and has no plans to retire. United, meanwhile, have an option, expiring next month, to extend his one-year deal.

"I'm going to continue playing," Ferdinand said. "Whether it's here, I don't know. But I hope so."

With Louis van Gaal United's first choice to become permanent manager, after last week's sacking of David Moyes, whether Ferdinand's United career is continued will be the Holland coach's decision, if he is appointed.

Ferdinand, speaking for the first time since David Moyes's removal, added that players have to take some blame for the dismal campaign. "It's embarrassing. You don't want to look at the league table and see where we are. We were saying [before] I've not looked at the league table for ages, but it's because you don't want to."

"But that's down to us as players. We take responsibility for that as much as anyone else. We are where we are and we have to take some responsibility for that. We are not shirkers and we are not people who don't take responsibility. I don't think you get to where we have got to in our careers without taking responsibility and this is no different."

Robin van Persie has returned to full training after a knee injury and may be available for Saturday's visit of Sunderland. Giggs said: "He came back [on Friday], he trained well and just needs to work on his fitness now, so he looked great. We'll just have to wait and see how he goes this week."
