West Ham plan to enter the race to sign Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer this summer. The centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season but Fulham hope to keep the 26-year-old, who has been linked with Liverpool, Tottenham and Milan.
The former Manchester City defender has had an impressive campaign and has become a key player for Marco Silva. West Ham have been leaky at the back, conceding 56 times in the league, and David Moyes has concerns over his options at centre-back. Nayef Aguerd, the Morocco international, is expected to be up for sale and Kurt Zouma, West Ham’s captain, has had fitness issues.
Aguerd has lost his place in the lineup to Konstantinos Mavropanos, who joined from Stuttgart for £19m last summer, but Moyes’s team have kept one clean sheet in the league since the turn of the year. West Ham are likely to need at least one defender given that Angelo Ogbonna, the 35-year-old Italian, is out of contract this summer.
They were interested in the Wolves centre-back Max Kilman in January. However Wolves would be reluctant to lose Kilman on the cheap. Signing Adarabioyo on a free could be canny business, particularly as he would help to boost West Ham’s dwindling homegrown contingent.
