Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, Jocelyn Prêcheur, is in the frame for a switch to London City Lionesses in what would represent a major coup for the Women’s Championship club.

It is understood London City have held advanced talks with Prêcheur regarding their managerial vacancy, with the Frenchman hugely admired by the club’s owner, Michele Kang.

As reported by French media in recent days, Prêcheur is set to leave PSG this summer when his contract expires, and he had been linked with London City, who finished eighth in the second tier last season.

Multiple sources have since confirmed that, while no final deal has been concluded for Prêcheur to move from Paris to London, discussions have reached an advanced stage, with potential player transfer targets for the summer having been considered by the 42-year-old.

Prêcheur has been in charge at PSG since September 2023, when he succeeded his father, Gerard Prêcheur, under whom he had previously worked as the assistant manager. Gerard Prêcheur was twice a Women’s Champions League-winning coach at his former club Lyon.

Prêcheur Jr won the French Cup with PSG last season, beating Fleury FC 1-0 in the final. He also led the side to the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League, where they lost 5-3 on aggregate to Lyon, who, like London City and Washington Spirit, are owned by the American businesswoman Kang.

Kang purchased London City last December and has set her sights on the club winning promotion to the Women’s Super League.

The former Reading, Aston Villa and Birmingham City midfielder Remi Allen was head coach on a short-term contract signed in March. In May, the club announced Allen was leaving.

Prêcheur has also worked in China as head coach of Jiangsu Suning Ladies FC, where between 2019 and 2022 he won four trophies. He was previously an analyst at various clubs while separately working on sports performance assessments as a designer at a software company in Paris. Earlier in his career he had spells as an analyst for both PSG and Lyon.
