Everton have confirmed they are interested in signing Landon Donovan on loan during the January transfer window. The Merseyside club have been heavily linked with the US midfielder since the start of the week.
"Landon is a player David Moyes has identified as someone he would like to bring to the club," said Everton's chief executive, Robert Elstone. "We are working to make that happen and hope we can reach agreement soon with all the appropriate parties."
Donovan is the USA's leading international goalscorer and their most capped player with 120 appearances.
Along with David Beckham, the 27-year-old helped LA Galaxy to last month's final of the MLS Cup and won the division's Most Valuable Player award.
Should negotiations go successfully, he would join Everton on 2 January and remain there until mid-March.
