Despite holding out for an hour, Sporting finally break Everton's stubborn defence through Miguel Veloso. Twelve minutes later Pedro Mendes, above, makes it 2-0 with a deflected shot from 20 yards. The rout was completed in injury time by Matias Fernandez to give Sporting a 4-2 aggregate victory

The former Liverpool striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 40th minute before collecting his second five minutes later. Between his two strikes Ninis also scored for the Greek side, who won the match 3-2 and the tie 6-4
