Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. Ross and Rachel. Jadon Sancho and Manchester United. On and off again relationships that leave outsiders guessing at their latest status.

Sancho and United confirmed they were on when he first arrived at Old Trafford in 2021. But they were temporarily off again in the second half of last season after Sancho and Erik ten Hag clashed, leading the forward to agree a return to Dortmund on loan. The England international and United looked to be on again when Sancho returned to United this summer and Ten Hag said the pair had “moved on” from their rift.

But, just like Bennifer, Sancho and United could now be heading for divorce. Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign the forward. It would be a late approach and if confirmed the Blues would almost have enough first-team players to field four starting XIs. Another signing Chelsea, really?

Over at Manchester City, João Cancelo appears to want out. Cancelo was supposedly looking to go back to Barcelona, after playing on loan for the Catalan side last season, but they are not willing to bring him back because of his wage demands of around £12m.

One Spanish club that is completely stuffed full of stars is Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappé is among their signings this summer but another is Endrick. The 18-year-old wants regular playing time for the European champions; and what happens if he doesn’t get it, I hear you ask? It’s understood the youngster will ask for a loan move away from the club in the second half of the season.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest’s window is not yet done with the Aston Villa defender Àlex Moreno reportedly undergoing a medical. The deal for the 31-year-old Spaniard is understood to be a season-long loan with an obligation to buy. Moreno may want to check Forest’s league status come the end of the season before signing permanently.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are waiting for puzzle pieces to fall into place before making a move for a goalkeeper. They will only seek out a new keeper if Aaron Ramsdale leaves the club before deadline day. It has been reported that Ramsdale will head out on loan to Wolves after being pushed out of Arsenal’s No 1 shirt by David Raya. If Ramsdale does leave, Arsenal’s top target is the Espanyol keeper Joan García.

Finally, Liverpool are determined to sign a keeper of their own with an improved bid for Georgia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. This time around the club have pledged to pay Valencia £34m, so they must think he will Slot right into the team. If he signs, let’s hope he is a keeper.
